The Admissions Counselor conducts recruitment, selection, and yield activities for assigned application pools; all efforts are focused on optimizing applicant and advisor relationships as well as funnel conversion rates in the achievement of stated goals (headcount, quality, revenue, and composition). This is a highly collaborative position that leverages the work of academic partners, administrative partners, and Jefferson Enrollment Management colleagues to achieve goals. Essential Functions include interacting with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson; conducting student recruitment activities including off-campus, on-campus, and virtual events/visits; conducting prospect/applicant outreach to convert individuals from prospects to applicants and from incomplete to complete applicants; determining selection criteria and designing and implementing application review and selection procedures including interviews and decision communications under guidance; conducting admitted/deposited student outreach to convert admitted and deposited students to enrolled students; developing strategies to address assigned sub-populations such as athletes, re-entries, cross-campus transfers under guidance; collaborating extensively with academic and administrative colleagues in recruitment, selection, and yield of new students; contributing to planning, policy & procedure development, and quality assurance & effectiveness as a member of the Admissions team; and performing other duties as assigned. Competencies required include communication skills, interpersonal skills, attention to detail, critical thinking and problem solving skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-volume and ever-changing environment, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and related software, and a positive customer service orientation. Minimum education required is a Bachelor’s Degree. Some professional experience preferred but not required. Additional information includes extensive local travel, frequent overnight travel, frequent evening and weekend work.
