About the Role:

We are a boutique law firm specializing in Intellectual Property (IP) Law , including patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and IP litigation. We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented IP Legal Assistant to support our Managing Partner. This role is ideal for a candidate with experience or a strong interest in IP law and the desire to contribute to a collaborative and forward-thinking team.

Responsibilities:

• Transcribe dictation and assist in the drafting, revising, and finalizing of legal correspondence, pleadings, and IP-related documentation
• Electronically file documents and pleadings with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and Federal Courts
• Perform in-house docketing for IP and litigation matters
• Enter attorney time using in-house systems
• Provide administrative support to attorneys and assist with daily case management tasks
• Become proficient in firm software and hardware systems through ongoing training

Tools and Software Used:

• Microsoft Word (Windows 10)
• Microsoft Outlook
• Worldox Document Management (transitioning to LexWorkplace)
• Abacus (transitioning to DocketTrak)
• Philips Speech Exec Pro

Qualifications:

• Prior experience in a legal assistant or legal secretary role, preferably within IP law
• Familiarity with IP legal terminology and USPTO filing procedures is highly preferred
• Excellent transcription, proofreading, and document formatting skills
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management systems
• Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times
