About City Year City Year is an AmeriCorps program dedicated to ensuring that students across schools succeed. Our teams of AmeriCorps members provide essential support to students, classrooms, and entire schools, helping to prepare students with the skills and mindset needed to thrive in their communities. Role Overview In this rewarding position as a Student Success Coach and Mentor, you will focus on guiding and supporting elementary, middle, and/or high school students. Your mission will be to help students achieve academic success, improve their attendance, and foster positive behaviors in school. Key Responsibilities Provide personalized academic coaching and mentoring to students in one-on-one and small group settings. Assist students in developing literacy and math skills through engaging and tailored learning activities. Encourage active participation, assignment completion, and positive interactions among students. Implement effective behavior management strategies to promote a positive learning environment. Collaborate with teachers and school staff to track and analyze student progress, participating in reviews of student data. Help create a safe and engaging classroom space in partnership with educators. Support school-wide initiatives that enhance student and family engagement. Conduct and facilitate after-school programming, including academic enrichment, homework support, and student clubs. Design and co-lead events recognizing students' achievements in various areas. Aged 17-25 by July 1, 2025. Hold at least a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent, with some college experience preferred. Have not served more than three terms in an AmeriCorps program.
